How much motorcycle coverage do I need?

Regardless of the states you’re riding in, motorcyclists are required by law to be insured with, at the very least, liability coverage. If you finance or lease, you will most likely also need to purchase collision and comprehensive insurance for your motorcycle. Once you own the bike outright, state law allows you to decide if you’d like to keep the extra coverage or only ride with liability.

Our motorcycle insurance experts will be able to find you the best coverage options based
on your motorcycle, driving history, and state you are registered.

Bodily Injury Liability
Coverage

Bodily Injury Liability Coverage will cover any injuries that occur if you are involved in an accident with another vehicle or stationary object. Typically, this coverage will cover medical fees and loss of income.

Collision Coverage

You may choose not to add this coverage if you own your motorcycle out right. However, if you lease or finance, collision insurance must be part of your coverage. It will cover your vehicle if damaged in an accident.

Property Damage
Liability Coverage

If you are in an accident in which you are at fault, Property Damage Liability Coverage will protect you from the financial liability of and damage to property or people in the other vehicle(s).

Comprehensive Insurance

Comprehensive coverage, also necessary if you finance or lease your vehicle, covers non-accident related concerns. These could include damage due to severe weather, theft, falling objects, and vandalism.
